Kyrillos Veniadis
The Monk And The Bell This painting initially was a wide Mediterranean terrace. Later Kyrillos added the flying monk. Does the monk yearn for "higher" spiritual life? Is he disconnected from reality? Both? An additional repeated motive in Kyrillos' paintings is the drowned dead sailor returning from the bottom of the sea lifting his ship on his hands in a triumphant manner. And there are the women, the Madonna-Panaya (in Greek), the ancient Greek beauty, and the voluptuous modern woman.
